Our story
Lover of "Beauty", Art and Architecture, Nicolas Libert initiates the history of ARCHITECTURES (initially named Ateliers, lofts & Associés) in April 1998.
This visionary founder who cherishes the singular and collects contemporary art, shakes up the codes of real estate by creating in Paris, the first agency exclusively dedicated to "extraordinary" places. For the first time in France, a real estate agency will give the possibility to remarkable properties, steeped in history and endowed with rare volumes, to know a second life thanks to a handful of enthusiasts looking for a different way of living.
Nicolas Libert innovates by betting from its creation on digital platforms: first specialized web showcase in France, first IPhone real estate application integrating photos and videos, first digital real estate magazine mixing ads and lifestyle editorial... Real estate agent despite himself, this "serial entrepreneur" has never stopped collecting and promoting art and architecture in all its forms, transforming each of his emotions into a business project:
- In 2002, he created the contemporary art fund of Ateliers, lofts & Associés. Exhibited in the premises of the Parisian agency, the collection brings together modern and contemporary photographers and visual artists: Douglas Gordon, Thibaut Cuisset, Gilbert Fastenaekens, Wolfgang Tillmans, Goettfried Honegger, Edward Burtynsky, among many others...
- In 2006, he co-founded with Carole Bernard eLUX Repérages, an inexhaustible source of original and rare places. For a shoot, a photo session or an event, eLUX offers its clients unique properties and extraordinary spaces. eLUX was sold in 2021 to the European leader in rental of reception equipment.
- In 2007, he co-founded with Delphine Aboulker, architect and historian specializing in 20th century Heritage, the agency Architecture de Collection, the first real estate agency exclusively dedicated to remarkable architecture of the 20th and 21st centuries. She imagined and designed in 2011 the Prix Archinovo, first architecture prize dedicated to contemporary house in France, which highlights the requirement of innovation and creation of architects of our time. Since 2021, its Marseille branch is committed to promoting and transmitting modern and contemporary architecture on a Southern scale.
- In 2014, he founded with Emmanuel Renoird, art historian and interior architect, Please Do Not Enter, a concept store in Los Angeles mixing collection design, functional art and designer fashion. In 2022, the two French expatriates were entrusted with the management of the store of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Orange County in California (OCMA), housed in a spectacular edifice designed by Tom Mayne and his studio Morphosis, crowned with the coveted Pritzker Prize in 2005.
A quarter of a century later... with about fifty collaborators and eight ARCHITECTURES agencies on French territory, the bet is more than successful... These women and men perpetuate today with the same passion the original concept imagined in 1998 by Nicolas Libert.
Each of the group's proposals adapts to the environment and the Art of Living of the region, in order to remain faithful to its desire to live differently in singular and authentic places. 2023 : "Ateliers, lofts & Associés" becomes "ARCHITECTURES"
Since 1998, architecture has been the very essence of our profession and our character, constantly opening up to new fields: industrial, transformed, urban, vernacular or contemporary, it has shaped our offer and nourished our minds. Gradually, the living space has also partially metamorphosed into a professional space, imposing a necessary versatility of uses. Residential architecture is now declining in plural architectures, naturally leading to the mutation of Ateliers, lofts & Associés into "ARCHITECTURES".
This change of identity reaffirms today our commitment to all singular and contemporary architectures, those which for more than 25 years have forged our DNA and our values, those which allow us today, more than ever, to share emotions for the success of our clients' projects.
